Haven of Rest

The Master of the ship and the soldiers harkening to him, thought that the Fair Havens was not a good place to winter. It did not have all the creature comforts that the sailors and soldiers had desired.

But Paul and his companions thought it just the right place. Why? Because God, through Providential circumstances of voyage and storm had determined that it be so. Believing God, they were glad to winter where He willed.

This bit of bread and wine may not seem enough to meet your creature comforts. The bread is just a bit not a bite. The wine is barely a sip. This Fair Haven must be inaptly named. But it is not so. God has provided a haven of rest for you. It is in His own Son. Let all who partake of this sustenance, believing, receive their full share of Jesus Christ. Do this and you will find rest for your soul.
