Joy

The road to heaven is paved with sorrow and suffering. But when we enter through the gate of death, we enter into joy. When we hear the words, “Well done” from Jesus, can there be anything more joyful?

We have experienced all sorts of things this week, sorrow, suffering, exhilaration, rejoicing. The weird circumstance of experiencing emotions at variance with one another, joy and sadness, can be exhausting. We stumble into bed and awake into another mercy filled day, more goodness, more difficulties, joys and hardness.

We get a little reminder of the heavenly well done each week in worship and at this Table. We bring our cares and troubles into worship, maybe excited and hopeful, maybe exhausted and beleaguered.

Then God invites to Himself. He forgives our sins. He teaches us in His school from His book. And then He seats us at His divinely prepped meal, satisfied with us as His beloved children. Well done, children, enter into the joy of Your Father.
