Settled
One thing about an excellent family meal is the satisfied and settled feeling when the main course is devoured and its time for a leisurely dessert. A while before the house was full of bustle and prep, concern about getting everything just so, a touch of anxiety about whether it would all come together.
But then you sit and pray, make a toast with a thankful heart, pass the meat and potatoes talk, laugh, and eat. For a family in fellowship with one another, this is the feeling of being settled, content.
That is what we do here at this meal. God has prepped it all for us. He has welcomed, seated and feasted us. We are family. Our father is pleased, our elder brother leads us in righteousness and the spirit of unity in Christ reveals that we are one with God and with one another.
Settled. Content. Thankful. Joyful.
