Words AND Actions

In our confession of sin, pardon from sin and communion sections of our service, we like to say a little something about them as well as perform the actions of kneeling and confessing, standing and receiving pardon, and eating and drinking.

We have said a LOT about each of these actions over 25 years. From time to time, we repeat what we have said but for the most part we come up with something additional or slightly different than what has been said before.

This is an argument in support of adding words to our actions. These actions are representative of deep subjects. The Words can never quite say exactly what we want or all that we want. Thus, the actions represent something that needs to be shown as well as said. But in showing the action, we can also say hundreds of Sunday snippets about it. And we hope that these weekly actions and words draw us closer to our Lord as we express our great appreciation to Him for His forgiveness, for receiving us into His holy presence and for feeding us a spiritual fulfilling meal.
